Disneyland Park opened on July 17, 1955, in Anaheim, U.S.A. Walt Disney wanted to create a home away from home, now known as this magical place where families forget reality and immerse themselves in fantasy. And to this day, it still captivates millions of vacationers every year.
History and Development
A theme park that Walt Disney envisioned. He wanted to do things in the vein of amusement parks, but that had already been done, and it was easier, not better. He wanted a safe, family-friendly space where you could enjoy pollution-free fun.
Construction started in 1954 at $17 million. The park opened its gates in 1955, with only 18 attractions running that day. Disneyland set out to be different from the start.
Since then, Disneyland Park itself has grown and changed. These parks feature new attractions, themed lands, and other enhancements. This commitment to growth is what brings guests back.
Themed Lands
Disneyland Park has eight themed lands, each containing different experiences. Every land has a unique ambiance, rides, and dining options. These are short summaries of some areas.
Main Street, U.S.A.
Guests are welcomed by Main Street, U.S.A., with charming architecture and shops. A reflection of Walt’s small-town America nostalgia. A scenic stretch used by the iconic Disneyland Railroad also crosses this area.
Adventureland
This area whisks visitors away to far-flung locales. The Jungle Cruise and Indiana Jones Adventure still pack in the thrills. This space oozes exploration vibes.
New Orleans Square
